In 1948, Roland Gamache established Roland’s Jewelry in Mornville, Alberta. The store began as a quaint repair and retail shop. Roland and his wife Lena moved their business and family to Fort Saskatchewan in 1953 and it has remained, though moving locations a number of times, a constant fixture in the City’s Downtown business landscape.
In 1974 Roland’s son Roger joined the business as a jeweler and clock maker. Shortly after, Roger and his wife Pat added The Trophy Den as an arm of the Roland’s Jewelry brand. The Trophy Den offers engraving and award services.
Roland’s Jewelry experienced many years of success and in 1999 expanded into their current 3,500ft2 location. The move allowed them to expand their jewelry and giftware lines to include a large Designer watch and jewelry boutique, Canadian made gifts and an extensive Canadian Diamond Collection. The added space also made room for a new Computer engraving system, Laser welder and more staff!
2016 brought an exciting renovation to the store. The bright, sleek new design is full of unique and interesting history. Incorporating the past into its shining future was key to the new design. It’s a new look but you’ve been here before and that same warm, familiar family atmosphere welcomes you every time!
In 2004 Roger and Pat’s daughter Michelle joined the family tradition and has expanded the Roland’s Jewelry brand even further. Custom design, special orders and appraisals have become a large part of the services offered by Roland’s Jewelry. Michelle completed her diamond and gemstone training and became very involved in the Chamber of Commerce and other municipal boards. A few years later Roger and Pat’s other two daughters Jill and Danielle jumped on board to help the business grow by supporting sales, inventory and custom design.
Throughout it’s loyal history here in Fort Saskatchewan, Roland’s Jewelry, has been very dedicated to the community. Roger, Pat and their family were born and raised here, their kids and grandkids continue to love and support their City. From devoting hundreds of volunteer hours to thousands of donation dollars – giving back to the Community continues to be a main priority for Roger, Pat and their staff.
The Roland’s Jewelry family is growing! The fourth generation is growing up quick and is already excited to learn from Grandpa. The future is bright and we look forward to welcoming you as a part of it.
From our family to yours.
